TWC Nature Photo Club 30th Annual FotoFest Information
Who can enter? Anyone may enter.
Divisions?
Novice Division: Anyone who has never entered a photo contest or has had limited success placing in contests.
Experienced Division: Anyone may enter this division.
Youth Division: Photos taken by those aged 18 and under. All the photo categories are combined into a single category.
Judges? People’s Choice awards, one per category, will be based on votes cast by those viewing the exhibit. Independent judges, including a professional photographer, will select the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place for each category, honorable mentions, and an overall Best of Show.
Awards?
All prints, except for 1st place and Judge’s Choice winners, may be picked up then or at The Wilderness Center after June 24th.
Winner Displays? The Judge’s 1st Place, People’s Choice, and Best of Show photos will be displayed at The Wilderness Center for the next month and may be picked up after July 29th. The 2nd and 3rd Place winners are invited to submit their images for display during the month of August.
Show Times? Saturday, June 1st, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM, and Sunday, June 2nd, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
How Do I Enter? Bring your photos, form, and payment to The Wilderness Center on Friday, May 17th, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 18th, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Entries received after this will not be accepted.
Can I Drop Them Off? Yes, with payment by check only.
Entries can be dropped off at The Wilderness Center front desk from May 7 through May 16th.
Drop Off Location? The Wilderness Center, 9877 Alabama Ave SW, Wilmot. Tuesday through Sat., 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
RULES
Categories
Birds: This is the only category in which to enter bird photos.
Animals: Wild or Domestic. i.e., foxes, deer, goats, horses, dogs, etc.
Insects: Beetles, spiders, caterpillars, moths, butterflies, etc.
Flowers: Any flower bloom, tree bloom, or plant bloom. There must be a flowering bloom. A plant with no bloom=General Nature
Landscapes: With or without man-made features.
People: Photos of people, i.e., portraits, everyday life. (Nudity will not be accepted.)
Open: Photos that do not fit any other category, such as buildings, barns, architecture, bridges, etc.
General Nature: Photos of nature that do not fit other categories, such as fungi, snails, mushrooms, trees, etc.
Youth Division Category: This is a single category combining all of the above categories.
Black & White or Color photos are acceptable in any category.
Note: We reserve the right to change the division, reassign categories, and refuse entries.
Photographers should make every effort to avoid any action that might interfere with natural wildlife behavior or damage to plants. Entrants must not submit images that involve the willful harassment of wildlife or damage to the environment.

Fees per photo:
Adults - $7 and Youth $5.
Make checks payable to TWC Nature Photo Club.
While we do our best to handle photos carefully, neither the Photo Club nor The Wilderness Center is responsible for any damage to entries.
Note: Entries that have not been picked up by August 30, 2024, will NOT be the responsibility of The Wilderness Center or the Nature Photo Club.

RULES
- There is no limit on the number of photos you may submit.
- Normal editing, such as cropping, sharpening, dodging/burning, etc., is acceptable. Focus stacking, HDR, and blending the sky with the foreground in high-dynamic scenes are also acceptable. The use of AI must be restricted to normal image cleanup and object removal, such as rubbish, telephone lines, airplane contrails, etc. AI-generated objects inserted into the image, such as skies, cabins, flowers, etc., are prohibited.
- All prints must be securely mounted on mat board, foam core, gator board, or a similar lightweight material.
- Framed prints will not be accepted. Matting is optional. Aluminum prints will not be accepted.
- Images must be no smaller than 80 square inches (excluding the matting) and no larger than 16”x20” (including matting). 9”x9”, 12”x12”, 9”x16” are examples of acceptable sizes.
- Black and white photos may be entered in any category.
- No names may appear on the front of the photo.
- On the back of the photo, anywhere in the lower half, put the name and address of the entrant and the photo title.
