The Wilderness Center Nature Photo Club 29h Annual Foto Fest 2023
The 2023 Foto Fest will be held at The Wilderness Center on Saturday, June 3rd, and Sunday, June 4th.
The goal of Foto Fest is to showcase outstanding photography for the general public’s enjoyment.
Who can enter? Anyone may enter.
Categories? See the entry form descriptions to determine what category and classification to enter.
Judges? People’s Choice awards, one per category, will be based on votes cast by those viewing the exhibit. Independent judges, including a professional photographer, will select the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place for each category, honorable mentions, and an overall Best of Show.
Awards? Ribbons will be awarded in each category for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and Honorable Mentions and Best of Show in the Judged competition. People’s Choice, Judge’s 1st Place and Best of Show will receive monetary awards.
Awards presentation? All winners will be announced and awards presented at the TWC Nature Photo Club meeting, Saturday, June 17th at 9:30 AM. All entrants are invited to attend. All prints, except for 1st place and Judge’s Choice winners may be picked up then or at The Wilderness Center after June 25th.
Winner displays? Judge’s 1st place, People’s Choice, and Best of Show photos will be displayed at The Wilderness Center for the next month and may be picked up after July 23rd. The 2nd and 3rd place winners are invited to submit their images for display during the month of August.
Show times? Saturday, June 3rd, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM, and Sunday, June 4th, 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
How do I enter? Bring your photos, form, and payment to The Wilderness Center on Saturday, May 20th 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM or Sunday, May 21st 11:00 – 4:00 PM. Entries received after this will not be accepted.
Can I drop them off? Yes, with payment by check only. Entries can be dropped off at The Wilderness Center front desk from May 10 – 21.
Drop off location? The Wilderness Center, 9877 Alabama Ave SW, Wilmot. Tues thru Sat 9-4 and Sun 11-4.

Categories
Black & White or Color photos are acceptable in any category.
Photographers should make every effort to avoid any action that might interfere with natural wildlife behavior or damage to plants. Entrants must not submit images that involve the willful harassment of wildlife or damage to the environment. Regarding photos with people, nudes or partial nudity or physical abuse will not be tolerated.
Birds – this is the only category in which to enter bird photos.
Wildlife/Animals - foxes, deer, goats, horses, dogs, etc.
Insects - Beetles, spiders, caterpillars, moths, butterflies, etc.Flowers - Any flower, plant, or tree blossom
Landscapes – with or without man made features
People – Photos of people, i.e. - portraits, everyday life
Open – photos not fitting any other category, i.e.- buildings, barns, architecture, bridges, digital manipulation, etc.
General Nature - Photos of nature not fitting other categories, i.e. fungus, snails, mushrooms, trees, etc.
Youth - Separate category for photos taken by those 18 and under; may include any of above categories.

Fees per photo:
Adults - $5 and Youth $3.
Make checks payable to: TWC Nature Photo Club.
While we do our best to handle photos carefully, neither the Photo Club nor The Wilderness Center is responsible for any damage to entries.
Note: Entries that have not been picked up by August 31, 2023 will NOT be the responsibility of The Wilderness Center or the Nature Photo Club.

RULES:
- There is no limit on the number of photos you may submit.
- Editing or post-processing, such as cropping, sharpening, dodge/burn, levels, etc., are acceptable for all categories. Focus stacking is acceptable, but not photo composites (combining 2 more different photos); sky replacements are composite photos and are not acceptable.
- All prints must be securely mounted on mat board, foam core, gator board, or a similar light weight material. Framed prints will not be accepted. Matting is optional. Aluminum prints will not be accepted.
- Images must be no smaller than 8”x10”(excluding the matting) and no larger than 16”x20” (including matting). 9”x9”, 12”x12”, 9”x16” are examples of acceptable sizes.
- Black and white photos may be entered in any category.
- No names may appear on the front of the photo.
- On the back of the photo, anywhere in the lower half, put the name and address of the entrant and the photo title. Please do not put anything on the upper half.
- The Foto Fest committee reserves the right to reclassify or reject any entry.
- Make sure the correct Classification box is checked on your entry form.
