Our Annual Foto Fest will be  held at The Wilderness Center on a first Saturday and Sunday in May. The exhibition is for prints only. The Foto Fest's goal is to showcase outstanding nature photography for the general public's enjoyment.

Who can enter?
Anyone of any age may enter.

How do I enter?
Bring your photos, form, and payment to the Wilderness Center on:

Saturday, April 18th between 9:00 am and 1:30 pm. (This may change! Pleaae check back!
or
Sunday, April 19th between 1:00 and 4:00 pm. (This may change. Please check back!)

Entries received after this time will not be accepted.

Can I drop them off?
Yes, but payment must be by check only. Entries can be dropped off at The Wilderness Center any time before April ??. Other locations listed below will accept entries from April ?? - April ??.

Drop off locations?
Beginning April ??, 2020 (Please check back!)
The Wilderness Center, 9877 Alabama Ave. SE, Wilmot: Tues-Sat 9-5 and Sunday 1-5.
Stark Parks Exploration Gateway and Education Dept. Front Desk. (not the library), 5712 12th St., NW Canton. Tues.-Sat. 10-4 and Sun. 1-4.
Neiss Body & Equipment, 17485 Old Lincoln Way, Dalton: 8:00 am-4:30 pm.

Rules:
  • There is no limit on the number of photos you may submit.
  • ​Minor editing or post processing such as cropping, 'red eye', sharpening, dodge/burn, levels, etc. are acceptable for all categories.
  • All prints must be securely mounted on matting board. Framed prints will not be accepted.
  • ​Images must be no smaller than 80 square inches of print (excluding the matting) e.g. 8X10 and no larger than 16X20 (including matting).
  • No names may appear on the front of the photo.
  • ​On the back of the photo, anywhere in the lower half, enter the name and address of the entrant and the photo title. Please do not put anything on the upper half.{=
  • The Foto Fest Committee reserves the right to reclassify or reject any entry.


Who is judging?
The general public will review the exhibit and will do the judging through ballots given out at the door from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Saturday and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM on Sunday. In addition, judges will be selecting a Judge's Choice for each category and and an overall Best of Show. The judges are independent and include a professional photographer.

What are the awards?
Certificates and ribbons will be awarded in each category for 2nd and 3rd place People's Choice. 1st Place People's Choice, Judge's Choice, and Best of Show will receive monetary awards as well and certificates and ribbons.


All winners will be announced and rewards presented at the TWC Nature Photo Club meeting, Saturday, May 4th at 9:30 am. All entrants are invited to attend. All prints, except 1st Place and Judge's Choice winners may be picked up then or at the Wilderness Center after May 4th. Judge's Choice, 1st place People's Choice and Best of Show photos will be displayed at The Wilderness Center during the month of May and may be picked up after June 22nd, 2nd and 3rd place winners are invited to submit their images for display during the month of June.

Fees per photo:
Adults - $5 and youth $3.
Make checks payable to: TWC Nature Photo Club.
While we do out best to handle photos carefully, neither the Photo Club nor The Wilderness Center is responsible for any damage to entries.

Entries that have not been picked up by June 29, 2019 will not be the responsibility of The Wilderness Center or the Nature Photo Club.

Categories with no man-made objects:
General Nature
Landscapes
Wildlife - no captive animals

Categories that may include man-made objects:
Animals (domestic or captive)
Birds (wild or domestic)
Flowers (wild or cultivated)
Insects & Spiders
Pictorial (scenic)
Anything Goes
Wilderness Center

Youth Category (younger than 18). The subjects of the photos can be from any of the above categories. Mark "Youth" for the category on the entry form.
