2025 TWC Nature Photo Club 31st Annual FotoFest Information

Who can enter: Anyone may enter.

Divisions:
Novice Division: Designed for beginner or inexperienced photographers seeking feedback on their work via the People’s Choice Awards and the Judge’s Honorable Mention Awards.
Experienced Division: Anyone may enter this division.
Youth Division: Photos taken by those age 18 and under. This is a single category, combining all of the categories listed.

Awards:
People’s Choice Awards: People’s Choice awards, one per category, will be based on votes cast by those viewing the exhibit.
Judges Awards: Independent professional judges will select the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place awards, the honorable mention awards, and an overall Best of Show.

Novice Division Awards: Certificates and ribbons will be given to the Judge’s Honorable Mention Awards and the People’s Choice.
Experienced Division Awards: Certificates and ribbons will be given to the Judge’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners, Honorable Mention, and the People’s Choice in each category. The Judge’s 1st Place winner in each category will receive a monetary award. A monetary award will also be granted to the overall Best of Show.
Youth Division Awards: Certificates and ribbons will be awarded to the Judges’ 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners, Honorable Mention, and the People’s Choice winner. The Judge’s 1st Place will receive a monetary award.

Awards Presentation: All winners will be announced, and awards will be presented at the TWC Nature Photo Club meeting on Saturday, June 28, at 9:30 AM. All entrants and guests are invited to attend.
All prints, except for 1st place and Judge’s Choice winners, may be picked up then or at The Wilderness Center after June 28.
Winner Displays: The Judge’s 1st Place, People’s Choice, and Best of Show photos will be displayed at The Wilderness Center for the next month and may be picked up after July 26. The 2nd and 3rd Place winners are invited to submit their images for display during the month of August.
Show Times: Friday, June 6, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, and Saturday, June 7, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
How Do I Enter: Bring your photos, form, and payment to The Wilderness Center on Friday, May 30, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM or Saturday, May 31, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Entries received after this will not be accepted.
Can I Drop Them Off? Yes, with payment by check only. If you cannot bring in your entries on the above dates, this is provided.
You can drop off entries at The Wilderness Center's front desk from May 6 to May 29.

Categories
Birds: This is the only category in which to enter bird photos.
Animals: Wild or Domestic. i.e., foxes, deer, goats, horses, cats, dogs, lions, tigers, etc.
Insects: Beetles, spiders, caterpillars, moths, butterflies, etc.
Flowers: Any flower, tree, or plant bloom. There must be a flowering plant. A plant without a bloom = General Nature.
Landscapes: With or without the hand of man. (If the subject is a barn, etc. = Open Category)
People: Photos of people, i.e., portraits, everyday life. (Nudity will not be accepted.)
Open: Photos that do not fit any other category, such as buildings, barns, architecture, bridges, etc.
General Nature: Photos of nature that do not fit other categories, such as fungi, snails, mushrooms, trees, etc.
Youth Division Category: This single category combines all of the above categories.
Black & White or Color photos are acceptable in any category.
Note: We reserve the right to change the division, reassign categories, and refuse entries.
Photographers should avoid any action that might interfere with natural wildlife behavior or plant damage. Entrants must not submit images that involve the willful harassment of wildlife or environmental damage.

While we do our best to handle photos carefully, neither the Photo Club nor The Wilderness Center is responsible for any damage to entries.
Note: Entries that have not been picked up by August 30, 2024, will NOT be the responsibility of The Wilderness Center or the Nature Photo Club.

RULES
- You may submit an unlimited number of photos.
- Standard editing techniques are acceptable, including cropping, sharpening, and dodging/burning. Focus stacking, HDR, and blending the sky with the foreground in high-dynamic scenes are also permitted. AI should be limited to routine image cleanup and object removal, such as trash, telephone lines, and airplane contrails. However, AI-generated objects inserted into the image, like skies, cabins, and flowers, are prohibited.
- All prints must be firmly mounted on an 11x14-inch foam core, mat board, or gator board.
- Matting is required. Framed prints and aluminum or acrylic prints will not be accepted.
- There must be at least a 1-inch mat board around the photo.
- The mat board must be white, gray, or black. The print size is optional as long as it meets the above requirements.
- Black and white photographs may be submitted in any category.
- No names may appear on the front of the photo.
- Write the entrant's name and address and the photo title in the lower half of the back of the photo. Please refrain from placing anything on the upper half.
- The Foto Fest committee reserves the right to reclassify or reject any submission.
- Make sure the correct Division box is checked on your entry form.
